If your 1st attorney (who's a Public Defender) waives a speedy trial, has retired & was over a yr ago it valid?
My 1st attorney who was a public defender retired in Dec. 2010. I was arrested in March of 2010 for disorderly conduct. The attornety waived my right to a speedy trial, it is not June 1st, I will be on my 4th public defender & still no trial, onlly status conferences. I'm finding it hard to locate a job because of the pending misdemeanor charge. My last appointed attorney hadn't received my file after a month, is that 1st waiver of the speedy trial still valid in WI? I tried to plead guilty & they wouldn't let me; I have no idea if a guilty plea is better than a pending on my background check but it's been over a year, what should I do?
