Is taking t he Baccalaureate compulsory?

I`ve recently been to my daughters school for the low down on her forthcoming options, the Baccalaurate was explained, however when the teacher rounded it off with `We`re not sure where this new qualification will get them` I became even more sceptical, as for her taking a foreign language, she is dyslexic, not only stuggles has no interest in this area, when our son took his options things were different, he was disapplied fom this subject, and those hours were used for extra English classes, along with others in his situation.When I approached the head of Special needs, put my case across, all she could say was that my daughter would be given extra support, what?, Why?, a waste of resourses, time, not just for those students, but for the teachers, having to engage those students in a subject they don`t want to engage with, surely I said, those hours could be used towards the subject of English?, She couldn`t answer me! What does that tell me.
