How do u know if u have an eptopic pregnancy?

My doc gave me a sonogram with the baby at 5 wks but he didn't say anything bad. I used to get bad pelvic pain but not at the sides. Now just my ovaries and tubes hurt fom time to time. I'm 9 weeks now but worried. Many ppl think I'm just paranoid.
